  • Original Item: Only One Available. Pepperbox revolvers were so named because of the similarity of the front view of the weapon was so reminiscent of a Pepper Pot of the time being a circle of round holes. This is a spectacular example of an underhammer .32 rimfire six-shot Pepper box revolver. It was made in Liège, Belgium to the highest of specifications, for the export market to France and the United States. It measures 7 1/2" in overall length with a 2 3/4" inch long cylinder/barrel. The cylinder has a nice knurled nut on the front, which allows easy removal for reloading.

The action has a ring trigger operating an Under Hammer cock in double action only, which fires the bottom barrel when discharged. Interestingly there is a "fold out" trigger attached to the trigger ring to give the shooter extra purchase on the trigger if required. This folds away when not in use for ease of carrying the weapon in purse or pocket.

The frame is nicely engraved and the grips are made of polished ebony. Both the grip and the cylinder are marked with serial number 1533. The cylinder also has a very small stamped marking by the serial number, which appears to read ?OBERT. There is another marking on the grip, which looks to be MARIETIN/ BREVETE. The breach end of the barrels bear the E. / L.G. / (star) in an oval, the famous Liège proof mark.

Condition is very nice, with lots of blue remaining on the cylinder, and just a great look. Revolver seems to function well, though requires a strong trigger pull. Also as with any antique it can be a bit finicky.
