Here we have a very nice Austrian Percussion Overcoat pistol, which has a lovely octagonal rifled barrel in about .54" caliber, as well as a heavily carved wooden stock. As with we see with a lot of firearms during this era, the barrel was made in Liège, Belgium, and has the correct E / L G / * in an oval proof from the country. The large lock plate is completely devoid of markings, however there is a number 10 stamped into the top of the barrel.

Thile the barrel is Belgian, the style is definitely Austrian, with a Schuetzen style trigger guard and "dolphin" hammer on the percussion lock. The wrist of the stock has what look to be "fish scale" type checkering. The lock still functions correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full, and it is still in a pleasant state for display. We did notice that there is an adjustment on the front of the trigger, and it is straight, indicating it may be a "single set trigger". The metalwork overall shows a mottled gray patina from long use, which we have left in place to preserve the history.

The stock has a lovely color, but it has unfortunately suffered cracking on both sides just in front of the lock, probably from the heavy octagonal barrel it is fitted with. We considered fixing this, but did not want to disturb the lovely well-rested look. 

A very interesting pistol, ready research and display as is, or possibly restore.
