Original Item: Only One Available. This is certainly the first example we have ever had the pleasure of offering, a 1960’s Hard Hat as worn by the NASA Security Patrol at the John F. Kennedy Space Center! This is a very unique artifact from America’s Space Race of the 1960's Gemini and Apollo era!
The hard hat itself is a typical white fiberglass of 1960's vintage. Sadly, the lining is missing, however. The front of the hard hat is decorated with the emblem for the NASA Security Patrol, John F. Kennedy Space Center. There are no markings or stamps inside the helmet, save for some numbers handwritten within the crown.
Security Personnel was of utmost importance during the Space Race of the Cold War era, with the threat of enemy spies and saboteurs an ever-persistent threat. The well-armed NASA Security Patrols surveyed the grounds around launch sites round the clock during this period.
This is a unique opportunity to obtain an artifact from the Gemini/Apollo Era of NASA. Being that this artifact pertains to the NASA Security Personnel that guarded these facilities, this would add in nicely to a militaria collection.
