Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is just lovely, a flintlock blunderbuss pistol dating to the last half of the 18th Century, 1750 - 1800. The swamped blunderbuss barrel is heavily inlaid with silver in swirls on the top, encompassing the entire barrel length of 9 1/2". The grip is designed like a small shoulder arm's butt, fully carved and also inlaid with silver wire.
Measuring 19" in overall length, there is no provision for a ramrod, as is standard on these Ottoman pieces. What appears to be a ram rod complete with decorated iron ram rod pipes is in fact not a ram rod at all, just the appearance of one. The Ottomans carried ramrods on a thong around their necks so they would not be dropped while re-loading on horse or Camel back. Trigger guard, butt plate and side plate also of engraved iron. The lock plate even shows a faux European signature of Morris, presumably to make the weapon more desirable in the Middle Eastern Market.
Fully functioning and fully cleaned. Really impressive and ready to display!
