  • Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a lovely 18th Century Polearm / Spear head from Colonial America. It measures 18 3/8 inches in overall length, and has a substantial 12 1/2 inch long blade. This was definitely not intended to be used as just a ceremonial item, like a spontoon usually was, but it conforms in shape very well to the spontoon and also a simplified partisan. Polearms and spears slowly evolved over time, so this may have been a simplified version intended to go on the end of a spear or maybe even a pike to penetrate mail and other light armor.

The end has two holes for affixing the head to its shaft, the shaft now being long-gone. The head has heavy oxidation across, and the crude seam is very visible on the handle.

A wonderful example ready for display.
