Vintage Replica Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic extremely high quality German WWII Maschinenpistole 40 / MP 40 "Plug Fire" replica gun, made by the well-known Model Gun Corporation (MGC) of Japan. These work with replica "cartridges”, which have small caps "plugged" into the front of them, which are then detonated by the replica bolt. These were ejected like real spent cartridges, and could be reloaded with additional caps. Sadly the plugs and caps have all been lost, probably long ago somewhere in a backyard.

This example is not marked with a serial number, indicating it is a later import. The back of the receiver is marked MP40 / mgc 68 which we believe represents the year of manufacture as 1968, and the firing system looks to be the early style used on these.
The gun comes with an original German WWII sling for the MP40, with some tearing and material loss as shown, to be expected from a wartime manufactured sling. It is still solid overall despite heavy crazing.
The gun still has a great finish on the metalwork, showing very little wear, with maybe just a bit of oxidation and patination in areas. There is also some scuffing to the lower plastic housing from the folding stock. Mechanically it feels mostly solid and cycles correctly, with a great aged look. The sling is a great addition and looks the part. It really looks the business and feels almost the same as the real thing!
The original MP40 was developed from the preceding MP38 and chambered for the 9×19mm Parabellum cartridge. Its stamped steel construction, folding metal stock, and compact form reflected the German military’s growing emphasis on simplified production and weapons suited to mechanized warfare. The MP40 was issued particularly to squad and platoon leaders, paratroopers, and armored vehicle crews, although it was used across a broad range of German and Axis formations.
Allied troops commonly referred to the MP40 as a “Schmeisser,” despite Hugo Schmeisser having no direct role in the design or manufacture of the standard MP40. The weapon was principally associated with the work of Heinrich Vollmer and production by firms including Erma Werke, Steyr, and Haenel. Approximately 1.1 million MP40 series submachine guns were produced between 1940 and 1945.
This example combines the detailed construction and mechanical features associated with early Japanese model guns with the added collector value of its original magazine and original WWII sling. The retained finish, functional controls, metal folding stock, MP40 / MGC 68 marking, sling, and magazine make it suitable for a collection of vintage replica firearms, Japanese model guns, German WWII display arms, or military film and reenactment equipment.

SAFETY GUIDELINES
BLANK GUNS ARE NOT TOYS! Never ever point your blank gun at another person (except for movies, plays etc where that type of behavior is expected). Even though they don't shoot a projectile they can be mistaken for the real thing.
Do not carry your blank gun in public. It should NEVER be carried on the street, hidden on your person, or left carelessly in your car. Do not leave it where it is accessible to unsupervised children or irresponsible adults. If a police officer sees you with one he will shoot first ask questions later. These blank guns look and sound real.
Wear ear protection when firing blank guns. The 8mm round is very loud and can damage hearing. When using a blank-firing, stage prop pistol, always fire them with arm fully extended and at a safe distance from any other person. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. NEVER point any blank-firing or stage prop pistol at any person.
When blank-firing stage prop pistols are fired, gunpowder gas is vented forward and sideways through the front of the cylinder, NOT from the muzzle. This gas is hot, and may contain small particles of powder debris. At arm's length it dissipates harmlessly into the air, but if your hands, face or other parts of your body are in close proximity to the vent hole it can cause burns, cuts or abrasions.
