New Made Reproduction Items. Very Few Available. These are high-quality European-made reproductions of the black molded binocular eyepiece cover, commonly used to protect the ocular lenses on German military field binoculars before and during WWII. Each cover is molded from modern plastic and fitted with two riveted leather retaining strips so it can remain attached to the binocular neck strap when removed from the eyepieces.
Each leather strip has two small slits through which the binocular neck strap can be threaded. This arrangement keeps the cover secured to the binocular set during use and helps prevent it from being lost when the binoculars are being carried or observed through.
We tested these reproduction covers on 6x30, 7x50, and 10x50 binoculars, and all three sizes fit without significant difficulty. Individual wartime binocular bodies can vary slightly in eyepiece spacing and dimensions, so minor differences in fit may occur from one set to another.
The black molded body and leather retaining strips closely follow the general form of period German binocular accessories, making these reproductions suitable for completing a military binocular set, replacing a missing cover on a display example, or finishing a reenactor or mannequin field-equipment setup.
