Replica Item. Only One Available. This is an exceptional full scale non-firing replica of the German WWII FG 42 Type II automatic rifle, manufactured by Shoei of Japan and serial numbered 00228. Constructed primarily from metal with a laminated wood buttstock and forearm, it retains its detachable magazine, folding bipod, flip-up sights, spike bayonet, replica leather sling, Japanese language manual, and original shipping box.
This is a permanently non-firing replica manufactured solely for collection, reenactment, and display. It cannot chamber or fire live ammunition and was specifically constructed so that it cannot be converted into a functional firearm.
The Fallschirmjägergewehr 42, or FG 42, was developed during WWII as a specialized selective fire rifle for German Luftwaffe paratroopers. Chambered for the full power 7.92 x 57mm Mauser cartridge, the original weapon was intended to combine the roles of a service rifle, automatic rifle, and light machine gun in a form compact enough for airborne operations.
The Type II, commonly described as the later pattern, incorporated a number of changes intended to improve strength, handling, and manufacturing practicality. Its distinguishing features included a more conventional pistol grip angle, wooden buttstock, revised receiver construction, and a folding bipod positioned near the muzzle.
Japanese company Shoei manufactures the highest quality, most accurate machine gun replicas on the market today. However, their FG42 has been out of production for many years. When it originally came to the market the retail value was $2500. Now that no more are available, these have become nearly impossible to find and deactivated original FG42 are never encountered and the one that did emerge in the UK in the early 2000s sold for over $30,000.
This example is Serial #00228, with a 20 1/2" barrel. This replica is not capable of being fired. The rifle is made of metal parts which are in excellent condition and have very little to no handling wear. The top of the receiver plate is marked fzs / u over FG42 over 00228, similar to the original German markings. The laminate wood forearm and butt stock are in great shape, and thanks to being in the box there aren’t any bits of damage we can see. The rifle features a brown plastic pistol grip, which is in great shape. Other features include flip-up front and rear sights, a folding bipod and a spike bayonet. It includes one original magazine, which is unmarked. The box comes with a replica leather sling, which is the one that came with it originally. Also included is the original manual for the rifle, correctly printed in Japanese.
This example comes in its original shipping box which measures roughly 41 x 9 x 5 ¾”. There are some small scuffs and holes in the box, and some minor breakage to the styrofoam inside, but nothing detracting.
This is a high quality 1:1 full scale copy of the later pattern "Type II" FG42 paratrooper machine gun popular with modern re-enactors. Shoei manufactured these replica guns to be an exact copy and to be disassembled and operated the same as the original. These are all steel, everything moving as needed, fully cocking when the charging handle is pulled back, and trigger to fire the bolt forward.
The excellent metal finish, undamaged laminated wood furniture, serial number 00228, complete sights, folding bipod, spike bayonet, detachable magazine, original sling, Japanese manual, and original box make this an unusually complete Shoei example. It would be particularly appropriate for a collection focused on German airborne weapons, museum quality replicas, Japanese model gun production, WWII firearms development, or Fallschirmjäger equipment.

SAFETY GUIDELINES
BLANK GUNS ARE NOT TOYS! Never ever point your blank gun at another person (except for movies, plays etc where that type of behavior is expected). Even though they don't shoot a projectile they can be mistaken for the real thing.
Do not carry your blank gun in public. It should NEVER be carried on the street, hidden on your person, or left carelessly in your car. Do not leave it where it is accessible to unsupervised children or irresponsible adults. If a police officer sees you with one he will shoot first ask questions later. These blank guns look and sound real.
Wear ear protection when firing blank guns. The 8mm round is very loud and can damage hearing. When using a blank-firing, stage prop pistol, always fire them with arm fully extended and at a safe distance from any other person. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. NEVER point any blank-firing or stage prop pistol at any person.
When blank-firing stage prop pistols are fired, gunpowder gas is vented forward and sideways through the front of the cylinder, NOT from the muzzle. This gas is hot, and may contain small particles of powder debris. At arm's length it dissipates harmlessly into the air, but if your hands, face or other parts of your body are in close proximity to the vent hole it can cause burns, cuts or abrasions.
