Dating from the early 20th century this is a very nice flag of France used from 1790 until 1794 with the red stripe first, in 1795 it was changed to have the blue strip first. The flag of France The flag looks to be made of open woven wool, and each color is made of single panels of fabric, all sewn together with a heavy white reinforced header with a halyard with a wooden peg at one end.
Likely made for a veterans celebration the construction of the flag and materials date it to the early portion of the 20th century.
Condition is very good, especially considering the age, with the colors retained well. There is some age toning and staining, but that is to be expected of a flag that saw service. There also are some torn areas and possibly moth damage, as expected on a Wool Flag. There is a large tear on the bottom of the red section. The top corners are well-reinforced. However it still presents beautifully.
