ERMA EMP Display Machine Pistol

Item Description

Original Item: One only, just received from a Museum Quality private collection. This gun occupies a very important place in the history of submachine guns.  It was the source of the famous German MP38 and MP40.  ERMA stands for Erfurter Maschinen Fabrik, and EMP stands for Erma Machine Pistol. The design was originated by the German engineer, Heinrich Vollmer, whose bolt and recoil spring design became the basis of the MP38 and MP40.  This example is in caliber 9 mm Bergmann-Bayard and includes a special safety in front of the trigger guard.  When this is pushed in with the bolt closed, the gun cannot fire if dropped on the butt.  The ERMA occupies an important place in the history of submachine gun design
