British Personal P-1895 Officer Sword and Signed Photograph Set
Original Items. One-of-a-kind. This is the personal sword and a genuine signed photograph of Sir Arthur Solly-Flood, son of Major General Sir Frederick Richard Solly-Flood K.C.B. was born on 1871. Commissioned into the South Lancashire Regiment in 1891, saw service in the South African Boer War 1899-1902, General Staff Officer 1906-1908 served in Egypt 1909-1913. He then served in World War One becoming a Major General himself. After WW1 he served in Northern Ireland and Deputy Adjutant General, Army Headquarters, India in 1927 and retired in 1931; another glorious Military record from one of England's great Military families.
The signed photograph is dated November 11th, 1918 (the day the war ended) and is accompanied by his P-1895 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword complete in a field grade high quality leather scabbard. In fabulous condition and retaining almost all original finish as well as the shark skin grip binding and original leather sword knot. Blade marked "J.Jones & Co., 33 St.James Square, London." Also, included is a small newspaper cutting of his obituary is attached to the frames glazed photograph.
A fine tribute to one of England's leading Officer's who served in the Boer War and World War One as well as throughout the Empire having achieved General officer rank, a few pages of Internet research on this renowned officer will also be included.
