British P-1899 Cavalry Sword & Scabbard: Original Issue
Item Description
Original Item: Military Surplus from over 50 years ago, we have just a few examples that were found in a London theatrical costumier's inventory when closing down over ten years ago and have remained in an IMA crate since importation. These are the original last Victorian issue cavalry sword issued by the British Army and saw service in the Boer War. The very last cavalry sword model Britain adopted was the straight bladed P-1907 Sword similar to the US Patton Sword. This P-1899 Saber has a slightly curved blade, a full sheet metal bowl guard, wood or hard rubber black grip plates and comes complete in an original all steel scabbard with dual rings at the mouth for saddle suspension. In addition, each sword comes with a brown leather saddle frog and suspension straps. These are used original condition bearing various military acceptance markings, dates and manufacturers markings. Very few only.
