British Mess Tin Set: WWI Gallipoli
Original Item: Adopted in 1900 and used continually through the First World War these are original two piece "D" shaped Mess Tins with lids. Bearing WWI dates they do show rust staining but are fully serviceable. Extremely scarce and very few available we believe these are Australian issued; think Gallipoli! Dates Vary.
"The name on the mess tins -Simpson Adelaide 1915. Simpson were a press steel manufacturing plant in the hills above Adelaide capital city of the state of South Australia. they also made hoses buggies and press tin parts for such things as cigarette holders, soap dishes and cleanign kits for the Australian Army during WWI".
