Original Item: These are unissued, fully operational WWII manufactured M 1944 Map Reading Lamps developed for the invasion of Europe. Heavy metal and plastic construction with large 3" ILLUMINATED AND MAGNIFIED viewing screen with grid markings Stadia Lines for easy distance calculations. Even equipped with built-in dimmer for use in sensitive front line situations. Powered by two standard D cell batteries, these lamps are FULLY OPERATIONAL. Marked with Government contractors name, model designation and Broad Arrow military markings, these are unusual WWII collectables that have great practical use in today's environment. Officially obsoleted in 1954, these lamps were placed in the War Reserve until recently released from military stores. Each lamp comes contained in its original cardboard storage carton and is offered together with new batteries. A must for the collector of Allied WWII equipment or for just keeping in the glove compartment. Overall length 12".
