Original U.S. WWII Identified Navy Pilot AN-6552 Flight Jacket, Sunglasses and Dog Tag Set

Item Description

Original Items: One-of-a-kind set. Lieutenant Edward Von Hermann (NSN 7028682) was a Naval Pilot during WWII. We were able to locate a muster role from 1945 that placed him him at Naval Air Base Navy 939 on Guam. The following items belonged to Lt. Von Hermann.

- USN AN-6552 Flight jacket in size 38 manufactured by Bogen & Tenenbaum offered in very good condition. This inner pocket is marked to Von Hermann in ink 7028682. In early 1943, the U.S. Navy ordered a new set of flight jackets with the designation AN-6552. This new set of contracts brought in new jacket makers, along with some that had previously made M-422 and M-422A flight jackets. On new maker was Bogen & Tenenbaum. They had two contracts, and their jacket design was quite unique compared with other Navy jacket makers. It would appear that only the Navy used the AN series of jackets, but the intention of the military in general was that AN jackets would be used by both the Army Air Forces and the Navy (hence, AN jacket number 6552). The Bogen & Tenenbaum pattern has a slender body around the waist, and then comfortable shoulders and upper back. The sleeves are also slender. We would only suggest this pattern for people who are of a more slender physique.

- USAAF and USN Aviator Sunglasses with green tint lenses in original case with paper tag that reads:
Glasses - Flying, Sun
Spec. AN-G-22 Type II
1 Pair
American Optical Company
P.O. (33-038)
45-5037-AF

- U.S. Navy World War Two Dog Tags named to Edward Von Hermann 702-86-82

- U.S. Army Khaki visor cap with crush shape marked on the interior to Von Hermann in ink 7028682. Size is approximately a US 7.

Overall a really nice set from a USN fighter pilot in WW2.
