Original Vietnam War South Vietnamese Air Force Junior Officer Visor Cap - RARE

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Scarce South Vietnamese Air Force Junior Officer’s Visor Cap. The cap is indigenous made in Vietnam in its entirety, including the Brass Cap badge.

South Vietnamese items from the Vietnam Conflict are incredibly hard to find, as after the fall of Saigon in 1975, the country simply ceased to exist. Former South Vietnamese Military Personnel destroyed their old uniforms, and the North Vietnamese victors tended to destroy anything associated with the former government. The very small amount of items which did survive generally were brought home as souvenirs by American or Allied military personnel. In the case of this cap, it was purportedly brought home by an U.S. Air Force Officer, and was in his effects from his time served “in country” in South Vietnam.

The Cap offered is in excellent “untouched” condition. The cap is made with some very apparent Vietnamese-made characteristics, such as stitching, vinyl used as an alternative to leather (which would rot in the tropics quickly). The workmanship is also very similar to other South Vietnamese made items. The Cap Device is made of crudely stamped brass sheeting, secured to the cap with a screw disk, which is apparently been secured to the cap for a very long time.

This is the first South Vietnamese Air Force Officer’s Cap we have ever had the pleasure of offering to our customers, which we would feel would make an outstanding representative piece to add to a collection.
