  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is an outstanding uniform set attributed to Private First Class Bruno J. Mingrone, who served with the 2nd Battalion, 15th Marine Regiment, 6th Marine Division during World War II. Mingrone enlisted on April 17th, 1943 and was sent with the Corps Replacement Battalion, Transient Center, Imac, before arriving at the Fourth Marine Depot Company, Fleet Marine Force, Noumea, New Caledonia. From here he joined the Third Defense Battalion, Fleet Marine Force and later joined the 15th Marine Regiment, with whom he remained until the end of the war.

The grouping includes his uniform jacket which has PFC chevrons on both sleeves, a 6th Marine Division patch on the left shoulder (some stitch loss), EGA collar insignia, a Ruptured duck honorable discharge patch over the right breast pocket, and a 2-place ribbon bar over the left breast pocket with the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Campaign Medal. The interior shows a College Hill Arsenal stamp with a date of February 22nd, 1943. The uniform itself is not named to Mingrone, only attributed.

The set also includes his belt and his USMC Visor cap, which is marked size 7 ⅛. The visor retains the EGA and the chinstrap, but the sweatband has entirely torn away from the cap.

There are also three printed photographs of Bruno in uniform, great for display potential. Then there is a small tag with provenance of the set being bought from the family at a tag sale in 1993.

A great set, ready for further research and display.
