Original U.S. WWII Era Quilted Blanket Display Piece Featuring Over 50 Shoulder Sleeve Insignias and Rank Chevrons - 40 ½” x 48”

Item Description

Original Item: One-Of-A-Kind. This is an incredible example of a soldier’s “souvenir” blanket. All 60 patches were hand stitched and was meant to be a reminder of service during WWII. Many GIs returning home brought home souvenirs such as battlefield finds, edged weapons, helmets, uniform items, rifles and so on. Some soldiers collected patches from various units and would stitch them on curtains, clothing, hats and in this case, US Army regulation wool blankets.

The blanket section measures approximately 40 ½” x 48” and appears to have had a few of the patches removed. We are not sure whether this was made as a “wall hanger” display or was meant to be intended as a throw blanket. There are some holes and tearing present, but all of the insignia appears as being clear and undamaged with scattered moth nips on a few.

A lovely memento from WWII ready for further research and display!
