With its size, the device would have been placed in a central location, allowing the entire class to witness the subject matter expert (SME) describe the function of each component with ease and clarity.
The TA-312/PT is an analog, 2-wire and battery-operated field phone that was introduced to replace and interoperate with EE-8 field phones used during World War II and the Korean War. It was known for its rugged and reliable nature, and was widely used from the 1950s through the 1980s, until it was replaced by the TA-838 analog field phone. Despite being superseded, TA-312's are still in isolated use by the U.S. forces and many allied countries. They are often referred to as the "Cadillac of Field Phones". When paired with U.S. G.I. Telephone Cable, these phones are designed to operate dry for over 20 miles.
This training equipment is in pristine condition with unmistakable markings and all controls operating flawlessly as designed. The bottom panel was not removed, but we believe that there are no electronic components inside, despite the initial appearance and the wire attached to the handset.
