Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. The 11th Special Forces Group was a U.S. Army Reserve Group located along the east coast of the United States. It was activated as part of the Army Reserves in Boston, Massachusetts on March 1, 1961. The 11th SFGA, along with the 12th SFGA, was deactivated in 1994 as a cost cutting measure. Many of the Soldiers of both reserve groups would join either the 19th or 20th Special Forces Groups of the U.S. Army's National Guard.
This is a gorgeous example of a 5th Special Forces Presentation knife made from a commercial Trailblazer knife, produced from 1974 to 1988. The knife is etched on the side of the blade with:
ODA-133
11TH SPECIAL FORCES GP. (ABN)
Next to this is the Special Forces Group flash insignia etched onto the blade. The opposite side has the logo for SWORD BRAND on the blade, and the ricasso is marked U.S. / CAMILLUS.
The knives were given to the troops after the war for having served a tour "in-country," It is a very well built knife whose only drawback is the nickel or chrome plating on the blade. This one is missing the sheath. There is some loss to the plating along the edge. The knife itself dates to after the Vietnam war.
A gorgeous Special Forces presentation knife, ready for further research and display.
