Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is a rare Imperial Japanese item from WWII, and one we have not encountered before. This miniature gasmask was once issued out to a family who had an infant/small child who needed to be protected from imminent gas attacks. They work just like a regular adult size gas mask, the only real difference being the size and how it was secured to the infant’s head, a more comfortable and soft method. Information on these are rather scant, so this would not only make a wonderful addition to your Japanese homefront collections but as a research project as well.
The gas mask is in wonderful condition though the material is rather stiff from being stored in the carry bag for many years. While it is in good condition, we have not forced the mask to open up due to us not wanting to risk damaging this example. The lens on the front is still clear and the filter still retains both the inner and outer caps to protect the breathing apparatus when not being used. The bag still retains full Kanji markings, making for a wonderful translation item.
