  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce Italian Post First World War Officer’s Kepi for an artillery officer as denoted by the buttons holding in the rigid oilcloth chinstrap. The underside of the sweatband is inscribed Pogario 57, which may denote the name of the officer the cap was tailored for, and the size, 57. The maker’s logo depicting an eagle clutching a fasces dates this to the 1922-1944 period.

The kepi is very rigid and stiff due to being a private purchase example, with one row of bullion along the middle rim, likely denoting the rank. There is also orange piping around the bottom edge and to each side, but we are unsure what the color represents. There is a reproduction Italian Airship officer badge stitched to the front, which could be taken off or kept for display.

The interior shows an orange/gold colored silk lining with a celluloid sweat protector with the maker’s logo for Unione Militare, the logo being an Eagle clutching a Fasces. This dates the kepi to the 1922-1944 era.

The sweatband is in great shape without any major loss of stitching.

A very rare cap with a later-added Airship officer insignia. Ready for further research and display.
