Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a Genuine U.S. WWII army hatchet with it's original wooden haft, both now worn from use, with a great patina. The axe head is marked U.S. faintly, however wear and oxidation makes any other markings impossible to see. The head is firmly attached to the haft, with no wobble, though it has recently had a wooden wedge added to secure it. The head does show wear and sharpening, and has a notch on the top next to the edge, possibly to be used to raise barbed wire.
The Hatchet comes complete with an original late WWII color OD Green #7 carrier, which does have some wear through and fraying from the back of the ax head. The original belt hanger loop was also removed at some point, though the stitching holes are still visible. In its place, a leather loop was added, attached by two sizable steel rivets.
