Original German WWI & WWII Ribbed Wood Handle Trench Fighting Knife with Steel Boot Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Fitted with a single-edged spear-point blade, this is an original fighting knife, as used by the Germans in WWI and then again in WWII. In nice used condition, this knife has a ribbed wooden grip secured by two rivets. Grip scales are in good condition, with no cracks or major chips, and a nice color. They are the more "rounded" type usually seen in WWI production knives, The knife has a small oval crossguard that projects about half an inch on each side.

The blade is full length on the bottom of the blade, while the top has a false edge. The blade has been used quite a bit, and has been sharpened multiple times, so the bottom edge is not entirely straight anymore.  But it's got that look of a well-worn blade that you only see from years of service use. Overall length is 10 1/4 inches with a 5 1/2 inch blade. No markings are present on the ricasso or crossguard, which is standard.

The knife comes in an genuine rolled steel steel scabbard with a spring steel "boot" clip on the back, which would allow attachment to the the side of a boot or to a belt. This type was made both during WWI and WWII. This style of attachment either clips around a belt, or holds on with pressure from the spring. The black enamel finish on the scabbard is good, but there is chipping and oxidation on the edges of the bottom part of the scabbard.

No visible markings but 100% original, a very example for display in any quality German edged weapons collection.
