Original Items: Only One Set Available. These are full scale metal, wood, rubber and foam replicas used for a prop bow and arrow set as used in various Hollywood films and televisions shows. These were all acquired from the Ellis Props and Graphics liquidation auction. Ellis was the oldest and the largest Prop Houses in the World until they went out of business in the early 2000s.
Ellis Props & Graphics closed after 92 years in business because rentals were declining as film and TV production increasingly left Los Angeles, California. The vast collection was acquired over the years since 1908, when a pawn shop, Ellis Mercantile, began renting merchandise to early filmmakers. According to Ellis Props, it all began when a studio employee wanted to buy a glass eye, but the pawn shop decided to only rent it in case the owner returned.
This prop set includes the following:
- Bow: The bow is constructed of steel and is wrapped in a heavy burlap type string. The drawstring used on the bow is thin gauged steel cable to better increase the overall durability of the bow while being used. From end to end the bow measures approximately 50”. The bow itself has about a 5 to 10 pound draw weight.
- 3 Quivers: A quiver is a container for holding arrows, bolts, darts, or javelins. It can be carried on an archer's body, the bow, or the ground, depending on the type of shooting and the archer's personal preference. One quiver is constructed of what appears to be real leather and is without any design. The other two quivers are similar in design and are constructed of a faux leather and feature imitation Native American style artwork on the face.
- 30 Arrows: Each quiver contains 10 arrows each. Each arrow differs in size and construction, but are mostly made of wood. Many still have the feather fletching but some are missing. The points are made of either wood, rubber or foam and some were crafted to look like stone arrowheads. Not all arrows are complete and a few are without any points at all.
