  • Original Items: Only One Available. This is a very nice U.S. Navy WWII Emergency Fishing Kit, used by servicemen, presumably after they had to abandon ship for some reason. In the sea, their only source of food would be rations on hand, and fish, so to survive an extended time at sea, fishing was the only option for food, as well as the water the fish contained.  The kit is a nice OD Green HBT roll, containing various fishing hooks, lures, and lines. There is also some original dehydrated bait, as well as two sets of instructions on how to use the kit.

The roll is not marked anywhere we could find, and has 12 different compartments. The most notable piece is the “Day’s Dry Pack Pork Rind Baits” by the Dry Bait Co. of Port Huron, Michigan. The pack is sealed and is really interesting.

There’s also a pair of gloves, a line-cutting knife by Imperial of Providence, Rhode Island, and a myriad of fishing hooks, lures, and lines. The kit when fully unrolled measures 14 x 29”.

The condition is very nice, with the expected wear from age and service. The kit appears complete and is the nicest example we have seen.

A very interesting bit of WWII Survival gear, ready to display!
