Original Item: Only One Available: This is an excellent condition genuine WWII Italian one bronze band strap visor hat, indicating the rank of Sottotenente or 2nd Lieutenant. The front of the cap has a lovely hand-embroidered bullion badge, showing an Eagle perched on a fasces over two crossed axes with a green circle in the center. This is the insignia of the Engineers.
The cap is in good condition with the visor and chinstrap both in good shape, the latter being held in place by two Italian Engineer buttons. The Sottotenente (2nd Lieutenant) cap band is great with some wear and light mothing.
The interior shows heavy wear but the grey leather sweatband is in good shape overall with heavy staining to one side. The cap is roughly size 55. The maker’s tag is gone, torn away long ago along with the celluloid sweatband. The lining is heavily stained and worn.
