Original U.S. WWII Thompson M1928A1 Display Submachine Gun Serial NO.S-326004 - Original WW2 Parts

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a magnificent WWII Thompson M1928A1 Display Gun, built from all original WWII issue Thompson parts on an original BATF compliant non-firing display receiver, making this a 100% legal display Sub-Machine gun. This receiver was created by using portions of the original torch cut receiver, including the barrel bushing, combined with some new made steel portions. It has properly had a 25% section of the total length completely replaced entirely with solid steel bar stock. Meaning a 1/4 length section of the display receiver is solid steel, making this totally legal to own without a license of any kind. Every part on this display gun is original WWII manufacture other than 25% of the receiver replaced by solid steel (as required by BATF). Additionally, this example has had a fabricated actuator installed, and a dummy bolt welded into the ejection port to complete the look.

Original WW2 parts include:
- 80% original reassembled ATF compliant non-firing receiver - Serial NO.S-326004, indicating production by Savage Firearms, or their Contractor Stevens. Original stripped bolt and actuator welded in place inside.
- Early detachable Walnut Butt Stock without Cross Pin.
- Complete Lower Frame Assembly with original serial number NO.S-430203, also produced by Savage / Stevens.
- 10.5" Finned Live Barrel
- Cutts compensator with patent markings
- Walnut Pistol Grip
- Adjustable Lyman Rear Sight
- Walnut Horizontal Fore Grip
- Magazine (Deactivated where required)

This example is typical of the early war issue Thompson M1928A1, with the more delicate adjustable Lyman Sight. It also has the early style buttstock, without the reinforcement bolt, and the sling swivel mounts are both the correct early machined type. It has beautifully finished walnut furniture that has that red brown color only achieved after years of age. Please note that the magazine is somewhat difficult to remove due to distortion of the magazine well from cutting and rewelding.

The Thompson 1928 sub machine gun is perhaps the most recognizable firearm of World War II, made famous by the Airborne Troops of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. This military model differs from the original commercial model in its 20 round magazine and its horizontal foregrip. Though heavy by today's standards, the weight helped control the .45 caliber bursts when operated on full automatic.

The Thompson submachine was invented by John T. Thompson in 1919 and became infamous during the Prohibition era. It was a common sight of the time, being used by both law enforcement officers and criminals. The Thompson was also known informally as: the "Tommy Gun," the "Trench Broom," the "Trench Sweeper," the "Chicago Piano," the "Chicago Typewriter," and the "Chopper." The Thompson was favored by soldiers, criminals and police alike for its ergonomics, compactness, large .45 ACP cartridges, and high volume of automatic fire and among civilian collectors for its historical significance.

Many new made replica and Airsoft Thompsons flood the market today, but this is an opportunity to own a true piece of history, a genuine WWII Thompson receiver in wonderful condition and totally legal to own in the USA by federal law without any type of license.
