Original Item: Only One Available. This is a good original U.S. WWII canvas carrying case for the M1 Carbine, manufactured by Shane Mfg. Co. and dated 1944. Designed for transporting and protecting the U.S. Carbine, Caliber .30, M1 when not immediately in combat use, the case remains substantially complete and retains its original shoulder strap and zipper assembly.

This example is faintly marked on the interior: SHANE MFG. CO. / 1944, and is made of OD Green #7 Canvas, which has moderate period and storage wear with a few popped stitches and some dry rot to the small leather tabs. This was originally a darker, more "green" type of OD green, as typical of later war produced items, but it has faded heavily to a lighter green. The case is overall very good, with an intact shoulder strap, mostly working zipper, and no rips or tears in the fabric.

The M1 Carbine became one of the most widely issued American small arms of WWII and was valued for its light weight and compact dimensions. Carrying cases such as this protected the weapon during transport and storage while providing an easy means of carrying the carbine between duty stations, vehicles, aircraft, or other non-combat situations.

The combination of the 1944 Shane Mfg. Co. marking, original OD Green No. 7 canvas, retained shoulder strap, surviving zipper, and substantially complete wartime construction makes this a very good representative example of WWII M1 Carbine equipment. The fading, popped stitching, leather-tab dry rot, and zipper wear are the principal condition issues, while the case remains structurally sound and readily identifiable.
