Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very interesting painted piece of Masonite dating to World War II, which is painted with the depiction of a “Brawler” style man with fists at his sides and smoking a cigar. This came from a large collection of PT Boat related items, so we believe it to be depicting the mascot for a PT boat, but due to its obscurity, we couldn’t find any matches online.
The masonite measures 9 ⅛ x 11 ⅛” and is ready to mount on the wall. The front is painted a greenish gray color and the brawler is in a yellow sweatshirt with blue stripes. The paint is heavily crazed and shows true age, so we have no doubts about its authenticity to the period, but it will require some deep digging to match this insignia to a specific PT Boat squadron or boat.
