Original Items. Only One Pair Available. During World War I, French tailors and civilians would make embroidered souvenirs en masse to sell to American soldiers once the fighting was over. These were especially prevalent to soldiers arriving after the armistice was signed, as they were less likely to be able to find German war trophies to send home.
This is a fantastic set of two framed embroidered “Souvenir de France” pieces, showing the French & American flags together. The first, which measures 15½ x 18½”, shows both flags intertwined with laurels and oak leaves with acorns adorning the piece. The frame is beautiful in itself. The second piece, which measures 17½ x 21½”, shows a Gallic rooster sat atop the French flag shield with wheat leaves around him, with French and American shields in the corners.
A lovely set of framed pieces to fill out your collection. Ready for display!
