  • Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a great 26th “Yankee” Division grouping with an attribution to Herman George Hoff, but we are not certain that the group belonged to him. The group has some great medals including an outstanding 5-place mini-medal bar and an extremely scarce French-Made U.S. WWI Victory Medal. This is not the French WWI Victory Medal, but a French jeweler-made example of the U.S. Victory Medal with a bar for the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. It even reads MADE IN FRANCE along the bottom rim and has several characteristics akin to that of French-made medals. This is the first example we have ever had!

    The group includes:
    - 5-place mini-medal bar with the Purple Heart, Mexican Border Medal, U.S. Victory Medal, Croix de Guerre with Palm, and the Verdun Medal, although the ribbon for the Verdun medal shows tearing.
    - 26th Yankee Division patch.
    - PFC Private First Class Infantry rate patch.
    - Extremely Rare French-made U.S. Victory Medal with Meuse-Argonne bar. Outstanding.
    - 5-place ribbon bar with the Purple Heart, Mexican Border Medal, WWI Victory Medal with 1 star, Croix de Guerre, and Verdun Medal. Ribbon for Verdun medal is torn.
    - Connecticut WWI Victory Medal with ribbon, rare to see. Ribbon tearing.
    - Verdun Medal with great brooch, beautiful worn example.
    - Purple Heart Medal, WWII Period with no engraving or rim number.
    - Croix de Guerre 1918 medal, correct ribbon.
    - 40/8 Overseas cap, worn by members of the selective organization.
    - Planchet for 40/8 Medal, the pin of which appears to be pinned to the cap.
    - Mexican Border Medal, no rim number.
    - US & Infantry Collar discs.
    - Army field clerk collar insignia.
    - Red discharge chevron and overseas chevron.

This is a great set with some good research potential. There are a couple of research documents already printed out, making for a good project. Comes ready to display!
