Original Items. Only One Lot Available. Adapted for both day and night use, the Hand Signal Mk 13 contains both the orange smoke canister for daylight and a flare pellet for darkness. Like the Smoke Signal AN-Mk 1 in appearance and operation, the Signal Mk 13 is small and is easily stowed in life vest pockets, flight suits, or life rafts. Not Available for Export.
This is an outstanding lot of five Mark 13 Mod 0 signal distress flares dating from 1947-1984, with four being perfect for Vietnam War issue. They come in an original storage case marked on the lid:

It measures 8 x 6 ¼ x 6 ½” when closed. The latch has some damage but should still work fine.
The flares each have day and night smoke at each end, and they include:
- January 1947-dated example with pull tab on ends, marked NORD 8296 LOT 151.
- June 1963-dated example with both end cap covers, marked LOT-HK-43.
- November 1966-dated example with both end cap covers, marked 21-HK-1166.
- January 1968-dated example in original plastic wrap. By Kilgore Corp.
- February 1984-dated example with end caps, by Navsea.
These were very often worn by Navy SEALs in Vietnam, as shown in the photo. An outstanding lot in the original storage box, ready for further research and display!
