Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Group. This is a very nice Vietnam War boonie hat, 1st Cavalry Division zippo-style lighter, Peace Symbol Medallion, and Award Document folder (empty) & scrapbook grouping identified to Private First Class Robert B. Bowder of the 1st Cavalry Division.
The group includes:
- Vietnam War Incountry-made camouflage boonie hat with “SLAMMER” embroidered onto the brim with some damage. Woven brown chinstrap stitched on. Heavy wear.
- Scrapbook with hand-painted Vietnamese village velvet cover page and 60 photographs from training and some in-country. Photos of dogs, vehicles, Native American girls at a party, and a lot more. Some showing ammunition, vehicles, etc. In the scrapbook was a sleeve of photo negatives, many showing him in barracks or elsewhere. The photo sleeve is named Robert B. Bowder Company B, 1/50 (M) Infantry. This was likely his unit before transferring to the 1st Cavalry Division.c
- Empty 1st Cavalry Division rigid award folder with great info on reverse. No documents included inside.
- Japanese-made KONWAL Super Zippo-style lighter with 1st Cavalry Division badge on side. Lighter still sparks and could work with some fuel!
- Peace symbol medallion on necklace string. Great period piece.
A great Vietnam War grouping, ready for further research and display.
