Original Item. Only One Available. This is an outstanding piece from the American Revolutionary War era. This gorgeous American short saber / sword is in amazing condition for its age, and even retains the original brass-mounted leather scabbard. The grip of this example had its leather professionally restored by renowned restorer Jim Brown, and it looks outstanding, entirely accurate to the period.
The short sword bears a heavily oxidized 24 ⅞” blade with a single fuller on each side. There is very heavy blackening from oxidation with heavy edge nicking. The brass hilt has a lovely “0” in the crossguard, and the overall length is 29 ½”. The grip is leather with a single thin strip of brass wrapped around it, very correct for this period.
The brass-mounted leather scabbard is in outstanding condition for its age, with the correct frog button style. The leather is rubbing heavily but the stitching is still very intact. The scabbard is very floppy, correct for leather of this age. It measures 26 ½”.
An outstanding Revolutionary War sword, ready for further research and display.
