Original Items. One-of-a-Kind Set. This is a really great set of a scrapbook & photo album put together commemorating the 1952 Fleet Marine Force Atlantic Baseball Team. The interior cover of the photo album has a great certificate for Captain Charles Sweeney, the coach for the 1952 year.
The photo album measures 11½ x 14½” and is missing one of the two pieces that holds it all together. The large photo album has one large photo per page, with many showing individual members of the team who had signed the photos. There’s an African American player, Bill Greason, at the end. The team was the Lejeune Marines, a great tribute to General Lejeune.
The photo album has roughly 70 photos. The scrapbook is almost entirely made up of newspaper clippings and articles relating to the team and Sweeney.
Both the scrapbook and album are in rough shape with small bits falling off due to the fragility of the paper. A great set, ready for further research and display.
