Original U.S. Cold War Combat Vehicle Crew CVC Gentex DH-178 Helmet with Personalized Camouflage - Dated 1979

Original Item: Only One Available.. The Gentex DH-178 artilleryman helmet was an experimental attempt to create a protective CVC type helmet for the crews of self-propelled artillery. These ballistic helmets were based on the DH-132 but came without communications electronics, and instead used two independent amplification circuits, one for each ear. These were prototype helmets and only 1400 of these were made by the Gentex Corporation and the helmet was not adopted by the Army. Shell has original textured paint with personalized camouflage. Original manufactures label shows: DH-178 / Size Medium / manufactured by Gentex / Dated August 1979. Original mesh liner with blue Gentex label has unique ear-cups and communications, one ear cup is missing the foam. Overall very good condition.
