  • Original Item. Only One Set Available. Like the other major military powers of World War 2, the Soviet Union went on to adopted various caliber of mortars for the indirect fire support role. This included several 50mm models as in the M1938 and M1940), the mid-sized 82mm models M1936 and M1937 and the larger 120mm M1938. Another 82mm offering became the M1941 (recognized by the Red Army as the "82-PM 41") which was a revision on the earlier M1937, itself a modification of the M1936 and this born from the excellent French Brandt line of 1927. Due to its caliber, the weapon was considered an infantry battalion-level weapon to which 50mm types became company-level weapons in comparison.

Unloaded or dummy grenades, artillery shell casings, and similar devices, which are cut or drilled in an BATF-approved manner so that they cannot be used as ammunition components for destructive devices, are not considered NFA weapons. This example is in total compliance and is NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.

This is a very interesting WWII Soviet mortar set in an original period crate. The set consists of one complete 82mm mortar with fuze and tail section, and one partial 60mm mortar with body and transit plug. In the crate is a small cylindrical tube attached to the crate itself, inside of which is an additional fuze for the 82mm mortar.

The side of the complete 82mm mortar is marked:

    82HE
    TN-42
    2-87-409

The fuze is marked KM 44 - 45  MN-82. The tail section is stamped 03-68-313 / 36x. The round retains its original paint and is in good service worn condition. It measures 12 ¼” long.

The partial 60mm mortar is void of markings and is missing the tail section and original fuze, with a transit plug inserted into the top hole. It measures 8 ¼”.

The standalone fuze is stamped M-5 255 18-A but is heavily damaged and falling apart.

The crate itself is in fair but rough condition with heavy wear and scuffing across. Both sides retain stenciled markings:

    3Ks-EDA-10-51/73-12
    M5 gts 88-53 82M dPNMA 8/51
    13kg dPNMA

We are unsure if any of these markings denote a date, but if 8/51 is a date that would mean the crate itself is Post-WWII. This requires a bit more research, but it is overall a very nice display piece with two original WWII mortars.
