Original Items. Only One Available. This is a lovely original Soviet WWII badge, a "Ready for Medical Defense of the USSR" Badge, as was issued for volunteer medics during the pre-war period up until 1941, when it was replaced with a less cumbersome design. These were made from various materials over the years, and this example is made from nickel plated steel with hot baked white and translucent red enamel. The design features a screwback enamel Soviet star pin, which has a larger cogwheel style badge attached by two small chains. This shows both the red Geneva Cross and red Crescent on a white background, with the following inscription around them:-
ГОТОВ К САНИТАРНОЙ ОБОРОНЕ СССР
This translates to "Ready for Sanitary / Medical Defense of the USSR". The badge retains the enamel and plating well, showing no major damage, just wear from age and use in service. The star pin measures 11/16" in diameter, while the lower insignia measures about 1 3/16" across.
This is a great example of a scarce Soviet badge, the first example that we have had, ready for further research and display.
