Original Item. Only One Available. This is a signed print of “Atomic Warfare is Born” by Harley Copic, signed across the poster by roughly two hundred members of the 509th Composite Group, created during World War II and tasked with the operational deployment of nuclear weapons. It conducted the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, in August 1945. The frame measures 30 ¼ x 32 ¼” and also has eight additional signature cards at the bottom with small biographies on the signers.
The print was originally issued with the signatures of Enola Gay crew members Paul Tibbets, Thomas Ferebee, and Theodore Van Kirk. The owner then likely took the print to reunions, military shows, and other events, having nearly 200 more men sign the print. These include members of the 393rd Bomb Squadron, the 320th Troop Carrier Squadron, the 390th Air Service Group, the 1027th Air Materiel Squadron, the 603rd Air Engineering Squadron, the 1395th Military Police Company, and the 1st Ordnance Squadron, Special (Aviation).
There are roughly 75 signatures along the outside border, and roughly 125 on the illustration.
Below the print in the frame are an additional eight signatures on cards with short biographies of the signers. They include:
- Lieutenant Colonel Thomas J. Classen, Deputy Commanding Officer, 509th Composite Group on Tinian.
- Allen Moore, Ground Crew, Plane V-89, Engine Specialist “The Great Artiste”.
- Norman F. Ramsey, Manhattan Project / Project Alberta Scientific and Technical Deputy.
- John J. Lesniewski, Ground Crew, Plane V-82, A&E Mechanic M.O.S. 747, 393rd BS, 509th Composite Group.
- Louis Schaffer, Commanding Officer, 1395th Military Police.
- Joseph S. Stiborik, Radar Operator, Crew B-9, Assigned to V-82 “Enola Gay”. Was on the Enola Gay on August 6th, 1945.

- George R. Caron, Tail Gunner, Crew B-9. Assigned to V-82 “Enola Gay”. Was on the Enola Gay on August 6th, 1945.
This is an outstanding piece of Atomic history, ready to become the centerpiece of any WWII collection.
