Original North Vietnamese Minh Mine and Offensive Grenade with U.S. Army ID Book dated 1966

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Set Available. This is a really nice Vietnam War Inert ordnance set, straight from a private collection. It includes an example of the very rare MIN or MINH Mine, as well as a canister-shaped Offensive hand grenade. Both of these are inert and have been fully deactivated following guidelines provided by the ATF.

Included with this set is an original Vietnam War issue U.S. Army GUIDE TO SELECTED VIET CONG EQUIPMENT AND EXPLOSIVE DEVICES, which was originally published May 1966. This booklet contains detailed information on both of the deactivated weapons, as well as many others.

On pages 12-13, the Viet Cong issue Offensive Hand grenade is described, giving the dimensions, as well as the specifications of the explosives contained inside. The booklet goes on to mention that they should NEVER be disassembled, as they were often utilized as booby traps, and would explode even with the pin and spoon still attached. This example is in great shape, with the deactivated fuze and spoon present. The bottom cap of the plastic housing unscrews to show the empty interior.

On pages 34-35, the classic North Vietnamese Army MIN or sometimes Minh Anti-personnel Mine is described. Despite the appearance, this is actually classified as a landmine and not a grenade. There is some anecdotal information that claims that a delay grenade fuze could be found replacing the mine fuze, but it has not been well documented. This example is in fine condition, with lots of the original paint on the body. The stick is intact, however the wood cap and twine are missing. Measures 8 inches in length.

A great set from the Vietnam War, ready to display!
