  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous set of Mexican officer shoulder boards dating to the Mexican-American War era. They indicate the rank of Subteniente or 2nd Lieutenant. They both bear Mexican Army buttons depicting an eagle with a snake in its mouth over RM for Republica Mexicana. This is a very scarce model of button, as most from this period had Republica Mexicana written out instead of RM.

The shoulder boards have lovely silver bullion but one of the boards has damage at the top of the Lieutenant bar, as the material has split. The other board shows very heavy wear to the top material. Both boards retain their velvet lining underneath, with bars to attach them to the uniform marked with F. SIBUET, certainly a maker of these boards who appears to be French. We found French boards by a Thevenet & Sibuet, but we’re unsure if this is the same maker. It would make since that officer’s materials like this would be imported.

The boards are in great shape overall and are a fantastic piece of Mexican military history. Anything to the Mexican military from this early period is highly sought after, so don’t miss out on these. Comes ready for further research and display.
