Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a lovely Italian officer’s uniform for a Capitano serving with the infantry. The uniform has a lovely period Aiguillette attached as well as a period blue sash which we have been unable to identify.
The uniform has two shoulder boards with three stars under the infantry insignia over a crown, denoting a Capitano of Infantry. The collar has a lovely velvet black base with attached red unassigned infantry gorget patches which are loose and not sewn-in. This uniform has certainly had some modern work done to it. There is red piping on the shoulder boards and the cuffs, denoting infantry.
Attached to the right shoulder is a period Italian officer’s Aiguillette, meant for ceremonial use. There is some damage including breakage of the smaller straps which allow it to be properly applied to the uniform. Also attached at the right shoulder is a long blue sash with large knots with tassels at the end. We are unsure of the purpose of this sash, and it could use more research.
A lovely Italian officer’s uniform with some added pieces, but a good display set overall. Ready for display.
