Original Item. Only One Available. This is a scarce WWI Italian officer’s uniform to a Sottotenente serving in the Aosta Brigade, which consisted of the 5th & 6th Infantry Regiments. The red & black-striped collar tabs indicate that the wearer was part of the Aosta Brigade. His rank is denoted by the single bullion stars on his cuffs. This example has faux bottom pocket flaps, with no actual pockets present at the waist.
The uniform has an eight-button front closure which attach into the other flap instead of on top, to “hide” the buttons as is standard on these tunics. All buttons are retained except for one of the shoulder strap buttons, and in good condition with some paint loss. The pockets on this tunic are slanted as shown, and the collar retains its single hook and loop closure. There is very minor mothing on the tunic.
The interior shows honest period wear, with a later added stamp for United Costumers, denoting that this uniform was likely used in a movie during the Post-War era.
The included breeches match the tunic well and have a stitched United Costumers tag on the interior, not filled out. This shows that the set was used in a movie during the Post-War era. The breech legs retain both hook and loop closures at the bottom.
This is a great Italian uniform set that will fit well into any WWI uniform collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
