Original Item: Only One Available. This is an interesting Imperial Japanese WWII or early postwar veterans’ association visor cap, most likely connected with former military aviation personnel. The cap is constructed from tan fabric and features a distinctive oxidized brass aircraft badge at the front, together with a faux patent leather chinstrap secured by two brass cherry blossom buttons.

The exact organization represented by the aircraft insignia has not been confirmed. Japanese military veterans formed numerous associations based on their former units, branches, schools, and areas of service, and specialized aviation groups continued to exist after the war. The prominent airplane badge strongly suggests an association for former Army or Navy aviation personnel, aircrew, or individuals connected with military flight operations, but further research is required before assigning it to a specific organization.

The cap has a tan-colored body with a relatively simple visor-cap construction. The front badge depicts an aircraft in flight and retains an attractive darkened brass patina. It is the most distinctive feature of the cap and gives the piece considerable research and display interest.

A faux patent leather chinstrap remains attached across the front. It is secured by two oxidized brass buttons decorated with Japanese cherry blossoms. The cherry blossom was widely used as a Japanese military and patriotic symbol, although the buttons alone do not identify a specific branch or association.

The visor retains its glossy black finish but shows heavy cracking, checking, and age-related deterioration. It has also become very stiff and should not be bent or flexed.

The interior retains its original lining and a heavily stiffened oilcloth sweatband. The sweatband shows age, dryness, and deterioration but remains largely intact.

A cloth label is sewn inside the crown and bears a stamped Kanji marking. The marking has not yet been translated and may provide information concerning the wearer, manufacturer, local association, or issuing organization.

Condition is good overall, with the expected fading, oxidation, surface wear, visor cracking, and interior deterioration from age and storage. The cap retains its aircraft badge, chinstrap, cherry blossom buttons, lining, sweatband, and interior label.

This is an unusual piece of Japanese veterans’ organization headgear, made especially appealing by its prominent aircraft insignia and surviving interior Kanji tag. It would make an interesting addition to a collection of Imperial Japanese aviation material, veterans’ association insignia, or early postwar military remembrance artifacts.
