Original Item: Only one available. This is a very nice Great War Imperial German Field Cap (Feldmütze or Krätzche). It is constructed of grey/green "Felgrau" wool with red cap band and red piping along with an interior linen lining. The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichskokarde (Imperial Cockade) on the front of the crown, with a shadow where the state cockade used to be. This cap comes with a spare national cockade, which is how we received it.
The cap has several markings on the interior, including a boxed marking I. KOMM, and a very faint maker’s mark which we can’t make out. The name Roth is also written on the interior. We can also make out a faint 7, which was part of the size marking, likely 57.
There is a small black square where the state cockade was, and one could still easily be attached. The cap itself has some mothing issues with several holes on the back of the cap and on the crown. The red band also has some moth nipping.
A nice example of a scarce cap with a spare National cockade. Ready for further research and display.
