  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic example of a Mid-War M1910 Schirmmütze Feldgrau Visor Cap as worn by the Veterinary Corps (and Infantry) during WWI. The later M1907/1910 version would move to the Feldgrau (Fieldgray) that was seen mostly during the war. The cap is constructed of dark gray wool, which was the standard color for all states. It has Carmine (Karmesin) wool piping and is without a band. There is some heavy moth nips present on the piping and some present on the body, please refer to the pictures as they are shown.

The front of the cap bears a Black, White and Red Reichs Kokarde (Imperial Cockade) on the front of the crown, with a Black and Silver Cockade on the cap band for Prussia though the colors are almost completely gone, with very minor traces present. The interior is lined with a polished canvas type lining which is partially detached and torn in areas along the seam. The thin leather sweatband is present but there is cracking, tearing and detachment from the visor itself. We estimate the size to be about a 56cm / US 7.

A lovely example ready for further research and display.
