Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous 1906-1909 dated group portrait of the reservists of the 5th Squadron, Royal Saxon Husaren-Regiment König Albert Nr. 18. The frame measures 23 ½ x 27 ¼” and is in good shape with some paint and material loss in spots. The wire is still intact for mounting.
These “group” photos were put together by photo studios from dozens of different photos of soldiers. Some true ingenuity for such an early period. The piece was put together by R. Kading Photography in Grossenhain in 1909. Men are shown drinking with comrades, raising their swords, and posing in other positions.
The 18th Regiment saw heavy combat during World War I while assigned to the 32nd Infantry Division. They fought on the Western Front from August 23rd, 1914 until November 11th, 1918.
A great piece, ready for further research and display.
