Original Item. Only One Available. Wilhelm I (22 March 1797 – 9 March 1888) was King of Prussia from 1861 and German Emperor from 1871 until his death in 1888. A member of the House of Hohenzollern, he was the first head of state of a united Germany. He was regent of Prussia from 1858 to 1861 for his elder brother, King Frederick William IV. During the reign of his grandson Wilhelm II, he was known as Emperor Wilhelm the Great (German: Kaiser Wilhelm der Große).
This is a lovely Pre-WWI period Imperial German porcelain candy dish in the shape of the bust of Wilhelm I after being crowned. It separates horizontally to reveal the delicious candy inside, which is currently not present. There is some staining and overall wear, but no serious cracking we can see.
There are some markings on the bottom, the number 15 in paint and the number 2948 inscribed into the mold. This may have been made by Rosenthal. It measures 3 ¾ x 2 ⅜ x 3 ⅝” when closed.
