Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice pre WWII era wicker carrier with a metal bottom, designed to carry artillery rounds and other items during WWII. These could be part of a set, and we see that there are holes on the top of both sides, so it may originally have bene intended to have straps attached to it. Unfortunately there are no spacers on the interior, so we are not able to tell exactly what type of artillery shells would have been stored inside. The carrier measures approximately 14 1/2" x 14 1/2" x 4 1/2"W, and has leather straps holding the top on. The closure strap is still present, but broken, so it no longer reaches the buckle.
The wooden bottom of the lid has a date of 1936 near one side, along with what looks to be a Weimar style Waffenamt. There are additional markings stamped into the middle of the lid, however we were not able to read them, except that there looks to be another 1930s date.
